Wyeth and Debbie found vaping through a family member in October of 2014.
After smoking for 30 years and 21 years respectively, as a New Year's Resolution, Wyeth & Debbie started vaping in January of 2015.
About that time, Wyeth had become disillusioned with his job as a district manager for a paper supply store and had always wanted to open a retail shop of his own. He started researching the business side of the industry. It looked promising and after much discussion, Wyeth quit his job the first of April and the first VaporWyse opened in Gladstone, Missouri in May of 2015. Debbie continued to work full time as an RN at a local hospital.
Wyeth & Debbie found that this industry was so much more than a store offering an alternative to smoking; it is a community of people who have searched for ways to improve their lives. They have made many friends of customers who came to the shops looking for an alternative to smoking. Not only did those customers find vaping, but they found a strong community and support group. Debbie believes friends are family and they started holding unique events, game nights, contests, and celebrations of holidays.
In February of 2016, VaporWyse looked to expand in their hometown of Kearney, Missouri. Life got in the way of progress for a bit and they stopped searching until Debbie realized that she needed to live her life and do what she loved. They restarted their search and opened the Kearney location in August of 2016. Debbie & Wyeth were asked by numerous people "why would you open another location when this industry is under the scrutiny of the FDA and could be shut down soon?" Their answer to them has always been "we believe in what we do and this industry is worth fighting for. To be able to offer people a substitute for smoking is worth that risk."
Debbie quit her job at the hospital in June of 2016 to devote her time fully to the company and to the vaping industry.
They continue their fight for this industry by attending their local city council meetings, encouraging their customers to register to vote, and donating to advocacy organizations that support them in their ultimate goal of converting smokers to vapers.
